We start February by finishing up the letter O. Ask you child to tell you some fun facts about the state of Ohio!
The long anticipated letter P week starts on February 6th. The children have been asking about this week for months because they know Pajama Day is this week! We will do Valentine patterning, make a pizza craft, and have a penny count in honor of President Lincoln's birthday. We finish the week by having our pajama day on February 9th! The book order is also due this week -- February 7th.
Letter Q week and Valentine's Day happen the week of February 13-16. We will make Valentine bags in class, and then pass out Valentine cards the next day. We will also make "quilts" to eat and turn the letter Q into a quilt. Our math skills will get a workout with a quill count, and our bodies will get a workout with the heart hop.
There will be no school on Monday, February 20th in honor of President's Day, but we will learn about the letter R on February 21st and 23rd. We will learn about rocks and make a rock book. The students will also practice rhymes and do a rainbow square.
We end the month of February with the Letter S. We will do some cooking and make a spider snack. Letter matching will happen with Single Scoop, and our knowledge of shapes will get tested when we make some stick shapes! We end the week with Slipper Day. |
